Description

These premium dragon balls are strongly aromatic and made my eyes light up when I opened the bag up for a whiff! While the producer claims this is gushu material, I don't feel comfortable making that claim, but I do believe this is old tree material based on the sheer complexity and depth of flavor, the cha qi and the number of infusions I could get from this tea!

This material has been tested for multiple pesticides, and absolutely no pesticide traces were detected by the lab!

Please note these handmade dragon balls weigh approximately 8g, but there is likely to be some variation as they are entirely hand processed. This material is 'greener' than the other Gedeng dragon balls. Comparing the two would be very worthwhile, and I tested them back to back myself!

The first infusion presented me with a deep, clear, exotic wildflower note that was quite different from the other Gedeng material (or any other raw pu erh I have tried to date)! I found this tea to be immediately calming, and it even made me feel detached from reality. Only old tree/wild material has this effect on me, so this lends credence to the claim that this is gushu leaf.

This is a clean, smooth tea. The aroma isn't as dominantly sweet as with the other Gedeng balls, but the aroma here is intense and deep. Along with the exotic, unique wildflower note, there is some orchid as well. In later infusions, a sweet and subtle natural jasmine-like note and sweeter agarwood aromatics arose, which were very pleasant. I also got some fresh milk aromatics in the aftertaste, which I always welcome!

This tea made my mouth water quite a bit. When brewed hard, this tea can get more bitter than the other Gedeng dragon balls, but with much less astringency.

This is a very interesting tea, and well worth comparing to the other Gedeng dragon balls! Both are lovely and I'm glad I was asked if I could source this material, as I have a new favorite region for young sheng pu erh!
