Description

This lovely rougui was grown in the Banyan area, outside the protected area of the Wuyishan Protected Area. This is a medium roast offering (roasted over charcoal in the traditional way) and is a lovely, clean tea that passed Chinese standards for pesticides with flying colors! 

This tea is very smooth to drink and the classic rougui flavor is very well balanced: it is not in your face, and you don't have to strain to taste the lovely flavors this tea has to offer. This is a hallmark of quality with Wuyicha. A friend and customer in Germany, who is a yancha lover, told me to smell the cup and pitcher. While I do this often, I didn't think to do it with this tea until he reminded me to! There is a definite sweet cinnamon aroma left behind which is absolutely lovely!

Through each infusion, I got notes of almonds. For whatever reason, I always get almond notes from the best Fujian oolong teas (both Wuyicha and Anxi tieguanyin). This tea has no flaws whatsover and is beautifully balanced, and there are lovely rock notes after the swallow!
