These lovely rustic sandy cups are from Sichuan Province! Anfu pottery has been in production since the Han Dynasty, and is considered one of China's four great pottery traditions, along with Yixing, Nixing and Jianshui pottery.

I was inspired to look for sandy clay cups after trying some very sandy (and very expensive) Yixing cups in Guangdong. I wasn't about to pay $150 for a tiny cup, so after some searching, I found these little cups and the texture looked excellent. They perform just as well as the Yixing cups did, and reduce bitterness while enhancing aroma and making for smoother tea! Sandier clay is especially beneficial for high roast oolongs and hei cha teas (including pu erh). I have tested these cups with both liu and and shu pu erh and enjoyed drinking both from these cups, and I think you will too! They are thick walled and the clay has great heat retention. I am sure they will perform well with high roast oolongs too, so if you would like to try one of these cups side by side porcelain (as I have), I think you will find they definitely offer a new and enhanced experience!

Wholesale pricing is available on these cups. Please contact me for details!
