This is a modern pot that is apparently made from aged Yixing clay. The pot appears to be made with a mix of red and purple clay with some sand. I really like the texture of this pot. I usually claims about authentic clay with skepticism in today's market, but when new, the clay smells like genuine Yixing clay, unlike many of the modern zisha pots I've handled in the last year. The performance of this pot is incredible, and it actually outperforms some of my 1980s Yixing Factory 1 teapots for certain teas! This pot excels with medium and high fired oolongs and would do well with pu erh and hongcha too. This is my favorite modern pot and I think you will find it to be an essential tool for serious gongfucha sessions.
