Description

This is the top grade of baimudan from the vendor who provides my Dad's Traditional Storage Sheng, which he consumed from the 80s onwards. I have been buying tea from the same company since 2012, and never thought to try their white tea. This tea was a real surprise: the quality was much better than I thought it would be at this price point. I am truly very happy with the price/quality ratio of this tea and I think you will be too!

The dry leaf smells clean and sweet and has the characteristic spice-like note you'd expect from baimudan. This tea is sweet in the cup, and has lovely huigan. There is no astringency here, but there is a hint of balanced bitterness that contrasts nicely with the sweetness and huigan.

This tea has lovely, calming energy, which is what I hope for with white tea. The aromatics I pick up include caramel, Ceylon black tea and natural jasmine, which make for a very pleasant drinking experience! As the tea cools, I also pick up cinnamon notes. I believe this tea would age very well, and I'd gladly put some aside for the long haul for that purpose (I might just have to)!

While the leaves aren't as pretty as they could be (the leaves are somewhat broken), you can definitely tell this tea was made with excellent base material, and for the price point, this tea is outstanding and the liquor leaves nothing to be desired.

While many suggest brewing white teas at 75-80 Celsius, I often brew mine at 90 Celsius for four or five minutes.
