Description

These ripe pu erh stuffed Xinhui Meijiang mandarin oranges have been dry stored in Guangdong Province, close to where the oranges are cultivated and then processed. Drinking chen pi (aged mandarin orange peel) with pu erh is a Guangdong thing, and these have stayed close to home since they were produced. Now, in December 2018, the tea has mellowed nicely in the oranges.

These 8681 oranges are much larger than the standard oranges from Gold Horse that are available from other western-facing vendors. These have a pleasant and alluring agarwood note and they are known as the agarwood fragrance oranges. The shu pu erh used for these oranges is well-aged and there are definitely no unpleasant fermentation notes in the tea whatsoever!

When dry, the oranges give off a distinctive juniper-berry like aroma, which I found pleasant and enticing. The agarwood note comes to the forefront after the orange peel and tea are rinsed. The liquor is smooth and pleasant, and if you've tried the cheaper stuffed oranges from this factory, you'll know these are definitely a higher-grade offering! The conservative storage means many of the citrus flavors in the mandarin orange are readily detectable, but the tea is also mellowed just right. These are definitely very good to drink today, and will continue to age and improve with time.

These have nicely calming energy!
