Description

These very collectable tuos are a remake of a classic tuo that was exported to Italy and Spain. Made to higher standards than standard Xiaguan raw tuos, I was very curious to see how this tea would perform in the cup.

The material appears to be higher grade (smaller leaf) than is standard for Xiaguan tuos. The storage on this tea was done very well: more aggressive storage would have taken more away, so I feel this tea was aged just right for the material and processing here.

This is classic Xiaguan in the cup: in the first infusion my impression is that this tea was well aged and smooth with classic Xiaguan barley flavor, which dominates the profile, as well as huigan and pleasant bitterness. The first infusion also had interesting agarwood flavors, and there was also some wildflower and citrus. This is exactly what I hope for in good Xiaguan plantation productions.

The second infusion was quite a bit more burly, so I would back down on the length (time) of the second infusion in future. More astringency came forth, and some smoke as well.

This tea packs a punch as far as caffeine, due to the small (high) grade material used for this pressing. This is a great example of what Xiaguan material can age to be, and it will definitely smoothen out more with age.
