Description

February 2nd, 2020

I purchased this tea from a very large-volume pu erh dealer based in Kunming back in July 2017, and have stored it in my eleventh-floor warehouse ever since! This tea has aged beautifully and is really smooth and pleasant to drink. Yiwu teas have a reputation for being smooth and mild, and this tea is really surprisingly light and easy to drink, with some very interesting complexity from the Yiwu old tree material.

This tea is very clean and has a lovely, long lasting sweet aftertaste. While this tea isn't intense (and I love strong sheng), this is a very good tea in my book. I get a surprising amount of umami from this tea, as well as lovely calming energy. I get cantaloupe and date in the finish, as I do with many teas. There is absolutely no astringency or bitterness in this tea unless pushed hard. The 2011 Guangdong Dry Storage Xiaguan XY Green Big Tree cakes I offer here at TeaLife aren't quite as complex in the aftertaste. The sweet top notes in the finish on this tuo are really very pleasant.

I can definitely tell that old tree material was used here by how smooth this material is (but with lots of aftertaste). If you are a fan of heavy hitting sheng, this isn't the one for you, but if you want something mild, smooth and sweet, this is classic Yiwu at a very nice price point. There is definitely better Yiwu out there, but I feel these tuos are a steal for what you get and I'd be happy to drink this tea regularly!

I got pleasant light huigan in the later infusions as well, which I always enjoy.

I only have two tuos of this, and I will part with 50g of the first tuo. I like these tuos enough that I'd like to buy more of these tuos for my own future consumption!
