These great little bricks have been dry stored in my warehouse in Hong Kong since December 2016. The storage has mellowed the tea out and aged flavors have started to develop, but these bricks are so dense that they are still very tight! The material used for these bricks is high mountain assamica from the Nanjian County section of the Wuliang Mountains.

This tea was a real surprise when I tried it. I wasn't expecting too much, but this tea greatly exceeded my expectations. The tea tastes like a Dali tea (think Xiaguan), but with more complexity since this is high mountain material. The years in HK have helped the tea develop black tea and citrus notes, which I'm always very fond of. There is also barley and wildflower in the cup, and these notes dominate (especially the barley)! The material is chopped, as you would expect, but this is a higher grade brick and there are lots of tips in the blend. There is some bitterness here, but it is perfectly tolerable and well balanced.

The real surprise for me with this tea was how intensely calming the energy (cha qi) of this tea is. It set me back in my seat. I did not expect that effect at all, and it makes me want to hold onto some of these bricks for longer-term aging, since they pack such a punch!

I only have four bricks of this tea left!
