Description

I bought these tuos at the end of 2016, and they have been stored in Hong Kong ever since! Back in 2016, I seriously underestimated the quality of Tu Lin pu erh. After aging some of their tea for myself (after rescuing it from a Kunming microclimate that is excessively cool and dry), I've come to realize their Wuliangshan productions are truly excellent.

This tea has aged to smooth jujube, with just a hint of camphor in the finish. I also detected dark chocolate notes as the tea opened up. It is sweet and bitter with deep but understated huigan, and the flavor and huigan are long lasting and go way down my throat, which I would expect from wild or gushu material. The sheer depth and long-lasting nature of the flavor are a real surprise. Tu Lin really uses top notch material!

The other Tu Lin organic ripe cakes I bought back then seemed underwhelming in 2016, but I now strongly believe it was just the excessively dry storage that prevented the tea from being all that it is today. I can't wait to try them again!

This tea has been dry stored in my own warehouse here in Hong Kong, and there are absolutely no dank or fermentation notes in this tea at all. My storage style is natural, but I use air conditioning when I'm around. This system seems to work very well for me, and I often find my Kunming (and Guangdong!) stored pu erh really comes into its own and is much more flavorful and complex after some time at my home or warehouse. Let's see if you agree!

I only have four of these tuos for sale, and can't seem to find more of the 2010 100 gram organic ripe tuos from Tu Lin anywhere!
