Description

March 2020: I've added two new pictures of this tea in its current state, and I had to add an updated description to this page as well! This tea has come along majorly and the cake and the liquor are now both much darker. The dry cake smells sweet and almost like aromatic pipe tobacco. After the rinse, I get the same sweetness on the nose, along with a pine note from the wet leaf. There is lots of umami here and a sweet citrusy note! There is also a nice light barley aftertaste (balanced), and a sweet orange-peel-like flavor, with pleasant sweet jujube in the aftertaste. This tea has lovely, long lasting flavor after the swallow, and there are even some resinous agarwood-like notes that linger on the palate. This is now a truly lovely tea, and the changes from 2017 to now, while I've had these cakes in my possession, have been astonishing!

August 2018: This tea has progressed rapidly in my storage. I tried this tea in a new duanni pot today. I got aged earthy notes, along with an intense, and unique, wildflower note with surprising range and depth. This note was distinct from Menghai wildflower and was very intriguing and satisfying! Hong Kong natural storage has really helped this tea along it seems!

February 2018: One of my friends (and customers) in Finland says he detects a note of pine sap in this tea!

This is a Zhongcha version of the classic CNNP Yiwu Big Green Tree cake!

This cake was procured from an authorized Zhongcha wholesaler in China. The tea was warehoused in Guangdong and with great care. The leaf quality of this cake definitely appears better than any 7542 or 8582 I have ever encountered. There was some conjecture online about whether these cakes actually contained Yiwu material, but the base material is definitely superior to any standard four-number CNNP production. 

The compression of the cake is also surprisingly light for a Zhongcha production, and reminds me more of a boutique single origin pu erh. 

This tea is smooth, only very lightly astringent (even when pushed hard) and has a touch of camphor, along with origin character notes. This is really a lovely tea for the money and an excellent example of Guangdong dry storage!

Please note quantities of this tea are extremely limited. I have a total of five cakes, one of which is for samples. The dealer only has a handful remaining, which might get snatched up at any time!
