This xiao ying-style teapot was a special request from one of my friends and most dedicated customers! He wanted a xiao ying-style pot for dry storage pu erh and I found this pot for him The xiao ying style spoke to him over all other Yixing teapot patterns, and it is definitely a beautiful design. I have a 500ml in zini in my own collection that I use for dry storage pu erh!

The hongni clay used for this teapot is excellent and well suited to all clean dry storage pu erh teas (both raw and ripe) you do not wish to mute: it could also be used for green tea, oolong and white tea. I would use a lower leaf-to-water ratio with oolongs if I was using a pot this large, although it could work well for gongfu-style brewing for a larger group as well, and the extra heat retention capacity of a larger pot certainly doesn't hurt! I wouldn't brew any oolong with obvious flaws or a very high roast level in this pot, however, as it is minimally muting.

This pot is nice and high fired, has a multi-hole filter and a 16-second pour. The clay is really lovely and has bits of fired clay mixed in to provide texture. This resembles certain types of lao zhuni, but without the astronomical price tag that comes with antique zhuni clay! As with all of the Yixing pots on the site, this teapot is half-handmade (slab construction).
